KP Vs. Nadi: Will husband get a raise?

The chart and Nadi sigs are as follows: (note that the chart has been rotated from the 7th cusp as the question pertains to a husband but is asked by the wife)

The combination for getting a raise or a promotion is 2 6 10 11 while 5 8 12/ 6 8 12 will oppose.

The first thing I notice is that the chart is peppered with 5 8 12s. Thankfully there was enough 10 11s along with 5 8 12s as well, which means that the 'good houses' will beat the 'bad ones', albeit by a narrow maring.

This tells me that the native is facing massive opposition at work, and it is likely due to office politics. It also suggests that the hike if any is destined will be much lesser than deserved/ expected.

First let me check if any raise is denied by this chart. The prime house of getting money is the 6th house and the 6th house is the 12th (house of loss) to the 7th (opposite party). The 6th CSL is Saturn, Saturn is retrograde and it is also posited in the star owned by a retrograde Mercury. Ordinarily this would mean that the raise is denied outright.

But since there is another planet (Mars) that is posited in a retrograde star, then as advised by Shri Shahasane I will not rigidly follow the rule of retrogrades and not say that the promotion is denied on this count.

6th CSL Saturn is owns 10 and 11 and its star lord owns the 6th cusp, so the raise is not denied. However as Saturn is retrograde it will not come through till at least it becomes direct.

Now let us analyse the DBA. The Dasha is of Mars. Mars is signifying the houses 10, 11 at its star level.  So Mars is signifying the relevant houses. But to check if the event will happen in this Dasha we will need to check the Sub of Mars, which is Moon. Its significators are:

Moon: 3, 4; Mars 1, 8

Shahasane ji has espoused a simple rule on Page 350 of his book Phaladesh Khanda. He says even if the Dasha lord may signify houses relevant to the event, unless the sublord of the Dasha lord also signifies one atleast of the relevant houses, the event does not happen.

In this case the sublord of the Dasha lord is not supporting the dasha lord in giving the result and as such, I believe this pay hike will NOT come through. In fact readers will note the 8 signification suggesting a disappointment in the matters at hand. So event is denied till Oct 28, 2017, and this is a effective denial to the question for the time frame the lady had in mind.

While I am on this subject, I want to highlight the fundamental difference in how Nadi views this topic. As per Nadi, as long as the sublord (they dont look at the star of the sub like in KP), does not deny the event then the event can happen. In fact even in many cases of denial, they make a weighing in of how powerfully is the event signified at the planet and star level versus denial at sub level.

This is a key difference. As per KP, a planet can signify an event only at its and its star lord's level. How that event will turn out (success or failure) is decided by the Sub. So a sub on its own cannot offer a new event altogether. Let me explain this with an example:

Plant A: 3 4
Star: 6 10
Sub 7 11

Now as per Nadi, this planet is neutral for marriage and will not deny marriage in its period. Note I have taken a stark example instead of a nuanced one to highlight the principal without straining the grey cells of any new readers :)

However KP will view this combination differently. For now, let us ignore the starlord of the sublord. KP will say that this planet offers results of houses 6 (job) and 10 (professional reputation) strongly. Due to presence of 2 11, KP will conclude that the native will gain money and gain reputation through his job. If we include the planet level signification, then KP will say, the native will publish something, or get a favourable reply (3 11) or maybe buy a car/ house (4 11) etc.

To make it clear, Nadi assumes a planet can give results at a sub level too. KP says a sub only diverts the result of the planet and its star lord.

Another point is that Nadi does not bother with retrogression of planets at all.

Now see how a funny situation emerges in this current example.

While KP has said that unless a house from the relevant house grouping for an event (2 6 10 11 in this case) is signified by the sub lord the event will not happen. But Nadi says the event can happen as the sub is not opposing it. So I am getting opposite results using 2 branches of the same system of astrology!

So lets see what the outcome is. Mars will allow the event. The Bhukti is of Venus. Venus has 2 in planet, 2 in star and a solitary 8 in the sub. As per Nadi a solitary 8 cannot do much damage. So Bhukti is also allowing the event to happen.

The Antara is Jupiter.Jupiter has 5 8 12 at the sub level which is defeated (narrowly) by the 10 11 there itself. However it also has 5 12 at the planet level. So on balance I estimate that the planet is slightly negative to neutral at best for the event. If we were to assume that Jupiter is neutral then I wish to highlight that the transit conditions are getting fulfilled as of today and will remain so till 3rd of June 2016. So raise can come anytime.

But I estimate that the antara of Jupiter is negative, then I look at the next one, which is of Saturn. Saturn has 6 at the star level and 8 at planet. It also has 10 11 but that is at planet level, so it is signified at a lesser level, but then again it has a favorable 2 at the sub level, so overall the planet is positive.

So it can happen between June 22, 2016 to Aug 28, 2016. I am not going through the transit calculations as this was to illustrate the point of difference.

So the two alternative predictions are:

Nadi: between June 22, 2016 to Aug 28, 2016

KP: After Oct 28, 2017 (so effectively raise is denied)

This is not a cop-out, but only a reminder that astrology is not as simple as memorising formula and assigning values. There is a lot of perception, calculation, perspiration and maybe intuition involved.
