When will I change my Job?

An old friend is feeling a little plateaued in her current job and not excited to get to work. She asked me for my amateur view on when she can get another job. Since such specific questions are best answered by Prashna, I asked her for a number between 1 and 249. '97', she texted me.

The following is the chart that was cast and the significators:

The chart casting time was 2:43 on 11/May/2015. The ruling planets at this time are:
Asc sign lord: Sun
Moon star lord: Mars
Moon sign lord: Saturn (in the star of a retrograde planet)
Day lord: Moon

She is currently running the DBA of Mars-Rahu-Venus. The combination and timing of job change is is 5 9 and it must occur when one of the DBA planets is a separative. As Rahu is a separative, the second condition is clearly fulfilled.

However, when I got down to analysing her prashna horoscope, what is suggested was something else.

The Dasha lord Mars is signifying a higher middle class combination of 2 11 at the Sub level. It also has 9 which is 12th to the 10th making it slightly negative to the career. On the whole, the Dasha is neutral to positive for her career. The absence of 5 9 combination here does not indicate change.

The Bhukti lord is Rahu. Rahu signifies 1 2 9 11, 6 12 and 5 8 12 at Planet, Nakshatra and Sub level. 5 9 combination exists here thus supporting some change, however, it is the 5 8 12 combination at the Sub level that is worrying me. 5 is the 11th house to the 7th (opposition), 8th is the 2nd house to the 7th  and 12th is the 6th to the 7th. So for her opposers this is a period of desire fulfillment, gain and victory over her.

This 5 8 12 combination is a very bad combination for one's career. It signifies suspensions, dismissals, scandals, insults, and loss of money. The Bhukti lord also does not have the mitigating combination of 10 11 to arrest any problems. A lone 11 at the Planet level will not have the strength to take on 5 8 12 at the Sub level.

The Antara lord, Venus, also has 5 8 12 at the sub level indicating stress in her career. It does however have 2 10 11 scattered at the planet and nakshatra level, which suggests that thus far she has been able to cope somehow with what is happening at work. But it is a losing battle.

The cuspal sublord of the 6th house (primary house of employment) is Saturn that also does not have any powerful job combinations.

The prashna chart suggests that she is facing severe troubles at work, which might exacerbate in the last week of May 2015 to mid July. I think the native is poised for some setbacks and may perhaps see some break in service too. My advise to her was to start putting feelers out for new opportunities. Seeing her natal chart I see possibilities for getting a new job. For now, she needs to guard against putting herself into any sensitive position work-wise.

Will Jayalalitha's appeal be dismissed?

I dont know this case at all. This is for academic purposes for me to try out the Options theory.

Time of question ruling planets:

ASC Sign lord: Saturn
Moon Star lord: Mars
Moon Sign lord: Saturn
Day lord: Moon

Saturn is in its own star. Saturn is retrograde. Thus it is in a star of a retrograde planet and will be ignored.

The 2 options are:
1) Jaya's appeal will be dismissed
2) Jaya's appeal will not be dismissed

Mars owns 1 and 8. Moon owns 4. Hence, 1+ 8+4+4 = 17 = 1 + 7 = 8

8-2-2-2-2=0.

Hence the last option should be selected. Jaya's appeal will NOT BE DISMISSED.

Will I be wealthy?

The third question was "How wealthy will I be?" I assume what he meant to ask was "if he will be wealthy"?

The chart and significators are given below:

The combination to earn a lot of money is 2 6/7 10 11. Currently the native is in Moon Dasha which will end on 29-10-2020. Then Mars, Rahu, Jupiter, Saturn, Mercury, Ketu, Venus and Sun will follow.

MO and Mars signifies 2 11, Rahu signifies no special combination of wealth, Jupiter signifies 6 10 11, Saturn signifies 2 6 11, Mercury signifies 2 7 10 11, Ketu signifies 2 7 10 11, Venus signifies 6 10 11, and Sun signifies 6 10 11. So by and large the native's dasha's will give him wealth as per his present expectations. He should only be careful during the Rahu dasha from 2027 to 2045 which has no clear combination of wealth. Notably, I dont expect it to be too bad for him as the Bhuktis and Antars will have more favourable planets. But it would make sense for him to exercise caution.

Will I settle abroad?

This is the second question asked. The prashna chart and significators are below:

Native will settle abroad only when most of the significators have 3 9 12 (foreign travel) houses and very few or less of 2 4 11 (return to homeland combination). In this horoscope, nearly five planets signify 2 4 11 along with foreign going houses.

Since both combinations are present, the native will go abroad and come back to motherland. Native will likely not settle down forever in a foreign country.

Love marriage or arranged marriage?

A friend asked three questions of which I will deal with the first one here.

The question was: Will I have a love marriage or an arranged marriage? He gave the number 38.

I cast the following chart (and Nadi Significators):

I examined this questions in a few different ways. 

Method 1: Krishnamurti paddhati

First, let us check if marriage is promised. Marriage is promised of 7th CSL is also significator of 2/7/11 houses. Mars is the 7th CSL which is placed in 12 and owns 12 and 7...thus signifying 7 and promising marriage.

If the sublord of the 5th cusp is deposited in the star or a planet who is a significator of the houses 7 or 11 then materialization of the love affair is promised. But if the sublord of the 5th cusp is happens to be in a star of a planet who signifies 6 or 12 then the love affair will not materialize. If its 6 then the other party will break up or if its 12 the the native himself will call it off.

Lets examine this horary from the above perspective. 5th CSL is Mars. Mars is deposited in the star owned by Sun. Sun is in the 12th house and owns the 4th house. Sun is in the star of Venus which is in the 1st house and owns 1 and 6. So Sun signifies 1,6.12 and 4. 4 is 12th from 5th indicating end of love. The presence of both 6 and 12 suggest that the affair (if any) will be called off. Neither 7 or 11 is signified by Sun. It does not appear that a love affair will fructify.

Method 2: Nadi

The native is currently running the DBA of Moon (Aug 2023) - Rahu (July 2016) - Jupiter (June 2015). The significations of the planets are as follows:

The nadi combinations of 5 8/ 5 12/ 5 8 12 indicate a relationship of an intimate nature. The '4' along with 5 8 12 may even suggest that the relationship was hidden initially but subsequently is/ will be known to the public perhaps by June 2015. Moon suggests that the other person will be a good looking person, perhaps someone in a position of authority, Jupiter indicates something similar ie. the person will be on a position that commands respect, Rahu suggests that the person may be much older or younger or from a different social or religious strata than the native (basically something that is not as per the norm).

As per Nadi rules, if the combination of 5 6 8 12/  5 6 12/ 5 6 8 occurs and either Rahu or Ketu or Saturn is one of the planets of the DBA then the love affair ends. RA/KE/SA are first rate malefics and also have separative tendencies. As can be seen, RA is part of the DBA and 5 6 8 12 is signified by Jupiter. Notably, the next Antara of Saturn signifies the combination of 1 6 10, which indicates no marriage. The cuspal sub lord of  the 5th house of love affairs is Mars which indicates 6 10 4 12...ie no positive houses for love culminating in marriage.

Since marriage is promised (as seen under KP) and no clear support for love marriage is seen, one can only conclude that it will be an arranged marriage.

A question of marriage

A friend asked me to check the horoscope of an acquaintance's daughter who wasn't finding her life partner for sometime. She is in her 30s and clearly in India that sets the alarm bells of the parents ringing.

I asked for her horoscope, but was doubtful about the timing. I rectified it to about 2 hours earlier than the reported time. The rectified horoscope gave an accurate description of her physical features, intelligence and even her studies (MBA, in this case). However, I was unsure as to why there would be a two hour difference in the recorded birth-time. No answer from her mother was forthcoming so I decided to use a Prashna kundali to solve the issue. I requested her mother to give a number between 1 and 249. Her reply was '1'.

I proceeded to cast the following kundali (kundali has been rotated to make the 5th house as ascendant since the question pertains to the lady's daughter):

The ongoing Dasha is that of Venus. Venus signifies 3 10 11 at the planet level, 4 5 9 10 at the Nakshatra level and 1 5 at the Sub level, thus clearly negating marriage.

The cuspal sublord of the 7th cusp (primary cusp for marriage) is Rahu. Rahu signifies 2 10 12 at the Planet level, 1 5 at the Nakshatra level and 6 12 at the Sub level. So Rahu is signifying the full combination of 1 6 10.

Since the cuspal sub lord has denied marriage, based on what I know of Nadi astrology, I conclude that the girl will find it very difficult to get married.

Am I at risk of an accident?

A dear friend of mine has been worried lately as many astrologers have apparently told him that he faces a risk of being in an accident. He knows that I dabble a little bit into astrology as a hobby myself and asked me to check. My first advise to him was to consult with a more experienced astrologer and also to exercise necessary caution while driving and not take any unnecessary risks at all in general. Then I got down to examine in my own amateur way his horoscope.

First let us see, why he has been advised to remain cautious of 'accidents'. Please see below his horoscope and the Nadi significators:

As can be seen from the birth chart, Mars is at 27:48:16 and Saturn is at 25:00:25 degrees in the Aquarius sign. This close conjunction of MA and SA (less than 3:20 degrees) is considered a strong facilitator of accidents. 

Next, look at the Nadi significators. The combination of 1 4 8 12 (6-optional) is considered the combination for accidents. We find this combination in three planets: RA, KE and SU. 

RA and KE are considered to be natural malefics and also the karakas for sudden events. Since accident is a sudden event, this should also be considered to be a strong significator of an 'accident yoga' in his chart. 

No wonder he must be very cautious in his conduct, esp wrt accidents.

However, I have a slightly different take on this issue as well. Since the accident combination occurs only in three out of 9 planets, I so not consider it extremely serious. The issue is that my friend is currently running the dasha and bhukti of Rahu and Ketu. So it is this combination that is applicable now and it makes sense to be alert especially during the conjoined periods of RA, KE and SU.

But lets look at it from a different approach, the Krishnamurti Paddhati:

As per Krishnamurti ji, "Accident can happen only when the sub lord of the 8th cusp is deposited in the constellation of a planet signifying the 8th house and it happens in the conjoined period of the significators of cusps 1 and 8. It will be fatal only if the sub lord of the 8th cusp is in the constellation of the significator of Badhaka or Marakasthana" (Page 54 of Astro Secrets and Krishnamurti Paddhati - III by K. Subramaniam)

There are three main points here. First point is on whether the kundali is allowing an accident to happen at all. The other two are about the timing and impact of the accident if it is allowed to happen.

Let us look at my friends chart carefully. The sublord of the 8th cusp is Saturn. Saturn is deposited in a constellation (star) owned by Jupiter. Let us look at Jupiter's significations:

Jupiter owns 10th and 1st cusp. Jupiter is in star of Mars which owns 2nd and 9th cusp. Mars is posited in the 12th cusp and Jupiter is itself posited in the 3rd cusp. Therefore, Jupiter signifies: 1 2 3 9 10 12

Thus the first condition of KP is itself not satisfied. ie. the 8th CSL (Saturn) is posited in Jupiter, but Jupiter does not signify the 8th house! As such, as per the KP method, no accident is written in RM's destiny.

Also, look at this quote from the book Astro Secrets and Krishnamurti Paddhati II by K Subramaniam on page 53, "The 8th Bhava indicates, in our life, big disappointments, Jail, punishments, accidents. But if the Sub-Lord gets strong signification for anyone Houses of 1,2,3,6.10. "a person need not at all worry about, whatever may be the Dasa is on or to come. The Sub·Lord gets the power to divert the results of the Dasa Lord."

Now lets look at the significations of 8th CSL (Saturn). Saturn as we have seen earlier is in Jupiter owned star. Saturn owns 11th and 12th cusp, and is posited in 12th. Jupiter owns 10th and 1st and is posited in 3rd. So Saturn's significations are 1, 3, 10, 11, 12.

Thus we can see that apart from 12th, the 8th CSL is signifying plenty of positive houses and thus as per KP will have the power to divert the extremely bad results of the 8th house and mitigate their impact. Another rule of KP (from Page 138 of The Third Reader), says that the CSL of the 1st house must signify 1 and 8 for the native to meet with accidents and danger. In RM's case, luckily even this rule isnt being fulfilled.

Thus overall I feel RM need not be too worried about accidents, but he should follow his common sense, advise of more experienced astrologers and exercise caution, especially during the joint periods of RA, KE and SU.

But, K.P. says, to the best of my limited understanding, NO ACCIDENTS.

In addition to this, I decided to confirm the result using a Prasha Kundali. The question asked by RM was "Do I have risk of car accident till end of the year 2016", the seed number given by him to allow me to fix the ascendant was 28.

The below is the horoscope and the Nadi significators:

As can be seen clearly, from the significators table, there is no combination of 1 4 8 12 present in the horoscope at all. Specifically the question was for till end of 2016. That period will include the ongoing Mercury Dasha, Sun Bhukti, Moon, Bhukti and Mars Bhukti. None of these planets signify the complete combination of 1 4 8 12 (6). Clearly the prashna kundli is indicating that RM will not face an accident, even if one is faced it will likely be a very minor one.

Even using, KP logic, we can see that the 8th CSL is Moon. Moon is deposited in the star of Mercury. Mercury* is signifying houses 7 1 4 2 3, ie. it is not signifying 8. Thus again we see, no accident is promised.


*Mercury owns 2 and 3. Mercury is placed in 1st house. Mercury is in the star or Moon. Moon owns 4 and Moon is situated in 7. Hence Mercury signifies 2 3 1 4 7.
