India will have normal rains this year

There is buzz that India will receive below normal rains this year.  I asked the question: Will the rains this monsoon season be 'normal' for India as a whole on average? The seed I gave is 50.

Chart and significators:

While I have not studied mundane astrology, I can try to infer the result.

The 4th house in mundane astrology has to do with weather, rainfall and agricultural produce. The fourth house sublord is Rahu. Rahu is posited in the star of of Moon. So the 4th house is not marred by any retrograde planet. Moon is also the karaka for water. So perhaps this is a good sign.

Looking at Nadi methodology, the relevant DBAs (covering the traditional monsoon season) are JU-VE-RA and JU-VE-JU

Jupiter signifies 4 11 at star level. Importantly the 8th house of delays, disappointments, large losses and tensions within the country is not signified..

Venus signifies 4 11 at the sub level. Again the 8th house is not signified. The 12th house of expenses is signified but at planet level and thus has limited power only.

Rahu signifies 4 11 at planet and sub level. 8 and 12 are not signified at all.

Based on this I have to conclude that while India may have regional variations (as that was not my question), but overall as a country India's rains will be normal this year, whatever the met department might say now. Lets wait till October 2015 and see if this prediction has proved correct or not! Hope it is :)

Will the land bill ever become law?

The Hon'ble PM of India, Shri Narendra Modi, is struggling with getting a land acquisition bill passed in both houses of the parliament. The proposed bill (that is currently in ordinance form) will make it easier for the government to acquire land at fair prices from farmers to put up national developmental and infrastructure facilities. However, the ruling coalition (NDA) does not have a majority in the upper house of India's parliament and as such even if it gets the bill through the lower house will not be able to pass the law in the upper house due to push back from a united opposition.

I asked a question: Will the current land bill ever become law ie. be passed in both houses? Seed: 232. The following are the significators and chart:

I decided to look at third house (since it deals with an agreement being arrived at on a written law), the 6th house (victory over opposition), and 11th house (gains).

KP rules:
The 3rd CSL is Mercury, Mercury is retrograde. This will not give positive results.

The 6th CSL is Venus. Venus signifies 5th house of gain to opposition and 8th house of difficulty. It is not signifying any of the victory houses of 6 or 11. So 6th CSL will not help in passing law.

The 11th CSL is Jupiter. Jupiter is posited in a constellation owned by Mercury, which is retrograde. So even 11th CSL suggests adverse result.


Nadi rules:

DBA is RA-SU-JU.

Rahu is not signifying any positive houses of 2 6 10 11, but is signifying 5 8 in star. 5th is 11th to 7th and 8th is the house of difficulty for native.

Sun is marginally positive with 10 in the Sub, but it also signifies 1 5 there. Also 5 8 in star.

Jupiter is similar to Sun's significations.

It appears that the land bill, atleast in the current form, can never be passed. Perhaps it is advisable for Narendra Modi to invest his political elsewhere.

This is one of the few times when I hope I am wrong.






  

2002 Footie World cup rigged?

Ms. Jessica Adams is a very experienced astrologer and has been very kind and encouraging to me in our few interactions. She had made a few predictions regarding FIFA, some of which events are unfolding even as I type this.

Today in a tweet to me, she mentioned about the rumour that has been going around for long that the 2002 world cup was rigged. I wondered if the stars would confirm the veracity of the rumour.

I asked the question, "There is a rumour that the 2002 world cup was rigged, is this true?" and gave the seed '114'. The following chart and significators were cast:

As per Nadi rules, if the news/ rumour is true then DBA signifies 3 11, on the other hand if the news is just a rumour then DBA planets signify 3 6 8 12.

The relevant DBA is RA-VE-MA. Rahu is also the 3rd cuspal sub lord.

Rahu signifies 1 9 10 in planet and sub, and 2 11 in star. So Rahu neither confirms nor denies the rumour.

Bhukti lord Venus signifies 3 in sub and 11 in star.

Antara lord Mars signifies 3 at planet and 11 in star.

At no point do the DBA lords signify 3 6 8 12 which would have dismissed the rumour as false.

So based on my limited knowledge of Nadi is does appear that there is something more to the rumours of the 2002 world cup being rigged. This appears to support Ms. Adams experienced view.

Notably, I had made a prediction about 2022 world cup, perhaps the above result will come about as a fall out of that?

Will 2022 Football world cup happen as scheduled in Qatar?

Apart from the FIFA president polls that will likely commence in a few hours, there has been some controversy regarding the 2022 winning bid by Qatar to host the World Cup of Football.

Lets check with my limited knowledge of astrology, if the event will happen in Qatar as scheduled. I do not know the exact schedule but it is likely to be about a month long event  with the finals slated to be on December 18, 2022.

My question was: Will the 2022 Football world cup happen in Qatar as scheduled? The Seed was 202.

The chart and significators are as follows:

The relevant DBA for me would be the one when the event will be held. So it has to be RA-RA-KE. Ketu antara runs from 13th Nov 2022 to 9th Jan 2023.

The first thing that strikes me is that every planet in the DBA is exclusively of first rate malefics Rahu and Ketu. As per page 241 in Prashna: A Contemporary Treatise, Umang Taneja says "Readers should understand that when DBA is of first rated malefic exclusively then the type of question which comes in front of astrologer is worst and the answer to the question is also adverse most of the time."

Anyway, lets get back to the DBA lord analysis. Now this is the tricky bit, I have not analysed a question like this before and do not know what positive combination to look for. But given that this is a matter of reputation for Qatar I would expect to see 10th cusp. Since it means fulfillment of desires, it might need to signify the 11th cusp. Also, I would expect to see the 4th cusp as well. The opposing cusps would likely be the 6 8 12 combination. 3 and 9 houses would also oppose I suppose the 4th and the 10th cusps.

Rahu signifies 6 8 9 in planet, 9 in star and again 6 8 9 in the sub. The only positive house here is the 4th house, which is perhaps not enough to withstand the opposition here.

Ketu has similar significations but it also signifies the direct negation combination of 6 8 12.

Thus it appears that the venue for the 2022 World Cup will be changed from Qatar.

FIFA Presidential elections

FIFA Presidential elections will be held later today I believe and there are two contenders for the top post:

1) Sepp Blatter; and
2) Prince Hussein

I asked the question and took the following seeds:
157 for Sepp Blatter and 163 for Prince Hussein

The following are the charts and significators for Sepp Blatter:

The 6th CSL is Sun. Sun signifies the 6th cusp through its own occupation and the 11th cusp through the occupation of its starlord Moon. It is not signifying either 5 or 12 at all (the are victory houses for the opponent). It is a very strong indication for the victory for the Incumbent Sepp.

The 7th CSL is Jupiter (7th cusp represents the opponent). Jupiter is in the star of Mercury. Mercury is retrograde and as per KP horary rules the result will not come through for the opponent. Page 146 of the 6th Reader clearly says "Planets in direct motion if deposited in the constellation of a retrograde planet, one cannot have success".

Thus Sepp's chart is very strong for victory for him.

Lets look at it with the Nadi methodology.

The 6th CSL is Mercury. it signifies 11 in Planet and star, which is positive for victory. It does not indicate the defeat combination of 6 8 12. It does show a scattered 7 8 12 which indicates perhaps a tough campaign.

The current DBA is MO-SU-ME.

Moon signifies 6 10 11, Sun is signifying 6 10 11 as well. We have already seen Mercury's significations. So It appears that Mr. Sepp's chart is indicating victory for him.


Let us corroborate this result with Prince Hussein. The chart and significators are as follows:

The 6th CSL  is Mercury. Mercury is retrograde. I understand from a paper by Shri Andrew Dutta that, "...regarding horary, Shri KSK gave a set of golden rules. They are:
1) The most important house cusp sub lord should itself not be retrograde at the time of judgement.
2) The sub lord should not occupy a star whose lord is retrograde at the time of judgement
3) The main house cuspal sub lord should be related with the other houses pertaining to the question

Finally, rules 1, 2, 3 should be simultaneously satisfied to denote a positive answer. If any one of the Rules 1,2,3 is not satisfied, it shows  negative result for the query. Results will not fructify"

As such, the main house of victory is itself impaired for Prince Hussein, and victory seems tough.

Let us look at Nadi rules:

The 6th CSL is Mercury. As can be seen above significators, ME signifies 6 8 12 quite clearly indicating defeat.

Since the DBA lords cannot grant what the main cuspal sublord has denied, it would corroborate that Prince Hussein will not win this vote, as per my astrological understanding.

A question on Conspiracy theory!

This was such a way out there question that I must admit I thought twice, maybe thrice before putting it out here. And I will be ok to remove it if someone has an issue with this. But it was so interesting, that I could not resist.

To all those who may be offended can I please say that the following text is all a work of imagination, and any resemblance to reality or any accusation here is merely a coincidence and not meant to hurt or harm. And of course, this entire post is hypothetical.

Someone I know is a conspiracy theory buff. He asked a question today about a disease that is predominantly sexually transmitted and has claimed millions of lives across the world, esp in Africa and Asia. While medicines can keep the disease causing germ in control, it can never be cured and the patient does face certain amount of social stigma for life.

Now the question asked was: There is a rumour that the said disease has a known cure or vaccination but this cure is not allowed to be made public by large companies. Is this rumour true?

The number given was 84 and the chart and significators are as follows:

KP dealt with rumour verification through horary in its 6th Reader, page 171-172. It says, "One has to judge the third house for any information or correspondence or communication or report.

We have to find out the sub lord of the third cusp; note in which constellation the sub lord is deposited. If the lord of the constellation in which the sub lord is deposited happens to be Saturn then the report is false. But if Mars then it is mischievous and false. If it is Jupiter then its true; and if the lord happens to be any planet that is connected with Saturn in any manner then the report is false; but connected with Jupiter, the report is correct. This is the way to find out whether a rumour is believable or not."

Lets look at our chart. The third cuspal sublord is Venus. Venus is deposited in a constellation owned by Jupiter. What does that tell us...the rumour is true.

Looking at Nadi significations. The current DBA is VE-RA-JU. Venus is also the 3rd CSL.

 If 3 11, 3 6 11, 3 10 11 is signified in the DBA then the rumour is true. If 3 6 8 12 is signified then the rumour is false.

Venus clearly signifies 3 10 11 at Planet level. The 5 8 12 at star and sub level indicates to a scandal but not to the rumour being false (that would have to be 3 6 8 12 remember?).

Rahu doesnt signify positive or negative combinations and neither does Jupiter.

But based on Venus, one would have to conclude that Nadi agrees with KP.

Post mortem astrology

I saw an article on Salman Khan today in the online version of a leading newspaper. This sort of astrology is exactly what irritates me.

This is what I call post mortem astrology, i.e. after something has happened, the so-called astrologer will tell you that its going to happen. Yes, you read that right. For example, this particular astrologer made the following points:

1) "The presence of Mars in the 10th house makes for Ruchaka Yoga, which bestows him with strength to defeat his enemies. Such people are often found in defence, army or police but since Venus also accompanies Mars in the 10th house, Salman happened to be more interested in the world of lights, camera and action! Ruchaka Yoga, backed with a strong Venus, is what makes Salman Khan the superstar of Hindi cinema"

-- in other words, the astrologer is not predicting anything. In fact saying that Salman Khan should have been in a defence profession, but he is not...so now looking desperately for a planet or a aspect that causes the reality to fit a post mortem prediction....aaah....theres Venus. So he must be in films. A 3 year old kid can tell you Salman Khan is in films, you dont need to be a astrologer for that.

2) " The Dabangg Khan believes in speaking his heart out most of the time without giving a damn as to what people would think of him. While it’s entertaining to listen to him most of the time, there have been instances in the past when his comments were not received well. This is because of placement of Rahu in the house of speech, which is the second house of birth chart "

-- but again we know this already. Another case of fitting the chart to what is being observed as reality.

3) "However, Jupiter’s dasa, which will continue till the mid of July, might put him in severe trouble in the coming weeks. Interestingly, it is during this period that Salman might have to go to Bombay High Court for his next hearing in the hit-and-run case. "

-- Hello everyone knows the probable court dates. What exactly is the prediction here?

4) The next 2 points are genuine attempts at prediction: a) His next movie will do really well (but any trade analyst or a glossy journo could have told you that) and b) Salman Khan will get married at 55.

Let see.

I have nothing against this particular astrologer. Just that the frivolous non-predictions made like this discredit the already under the scanner art of Jyotish.
